Learning How To Forgive Yourself; Living A Lifetime Of Freedom in Only Ten Days!

We’ve all done things in our lives we wish we had not done. Some of those things cause us sadness as we think of them, while other things can cause so much heartache we can barely live with ourselves and discover it is difficult, if not actually impossible, to excuse ourselves for it. Perhaps you know what I am talking about. You are so ashamed of your actions that youve done that you cannot comprehend you could or should excuse yourself. Instead, you are feeling all you can do is take the rest of your life paying penance for it, in hopes that may take away the intolerable burden of guilt you are living with every day.

Regardless of your past evildoing, you can be released from the burden you now carry, due to your unwillingness to forgive yourself. You may have sought the forgiveness of The Lord God for what you have done, but if you have failed to excuse yourself, you will remain defeated, even bondage, till you decide to obey the Word of God and excuse yourself.

Often , when we look at the original meaning and intent of of a word, we will be able to better know how to apply it to our lives. This is true as we look at the Greek word for forgiveness which means to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release, set at liberty.

To anyone who may ask, God offers His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He completely frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt and guilt of our sin. He sets us “body, soul and spirit” at freedom. Nevertheless he does not quit there. Our Heavenly father then tells us to pardon others, as well as forgiving ourselves, Just like we’ve been forgiven, assuring us the power, by God’s Holy Spirit, to do so.

How does one go about actually pardoning themselves? There is no exact way but the following suggestion could be helpful.

First, understand that one must make the choice to excuse ones self based on God’s instruction to do so. To forgive is a choice and an act of the will is critical to cause it to happen.

Leviticus 19:18 announces you shall love your neighbor as yourself… To love yourself is a command of Almighty God and love always carries with it forgiveness.

Second, if you have not already, ask God to pardon you for the injustices you’ve done. It’s vital to do this prior to working thru forgiving yourself. Remember, He’s waiting to excuse you and will graciously do hence if you ask Him.

Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.

Then, sit down quietly with the Lord God and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the things which you have not let go of or given yourself forgiveness for. Put it all down on a piece of paper. Be sure and put down all of the specific details list the names of people you hurt and the ways that you caused them harm. ( No one will see your writings. )

From there express how you feel due to what you did; Are you angry at yourself? Do you feel sorry? Undeserving? Be very fair, for God knows it all already. This is a good place to release all of the feelings you have carried or tried to reject.

Now, make the decision to pardon yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at freedom from the incorrect you are guilty of. Put your evil-doing into His hands and ask Him to cure your emotional injuries and allow you to move forward without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Ultimately destroy your list and throw it in the garbage can as a visual reminder that the guilt of what you have done has been forgiven and carried away, gone for good.

Now, go and experience the healing, peace and freedom that’s yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
